Methodology

How Intent validates business ideas.

Every Seed Check conclusion answers five questions: why, based on what, how confident, what assumptions were made, and what to do next. This is the exact method behind it.

01

Business Understanding

Intent parses your idea, target customer, location, business type, and stage to frame every later analysis in your specific context—not a generic template.

Market Intelligence

Live market data is gathered and sized. Demand direction and trend signals are extracted from the evidence, never invented.

Financial Analysis

Revenue model, startup costs, unit economics, and break-even are estimated from industry benchmarks — and clearly labeled as AI estimates, not verified financials.

Opportunity Score

Your score is a weighted blend of eight factors — Market Demand, Competition, Profit Potential, Scalability, Execution Difficulty, Customer Need, Risk, and Confidence. Every factor shows why, the evidence, and how to improve it.

How we distinguish evidence

✅ Verified Evidence

From named external sources with citations, research date, and confidence.

🟡 AI Inference

Synthesized by Intent from evidence and benchmarks—always labeled, never as fact.

⚪ User Input

What you told us about your idea, customer, and stage.

Data sources

Market, competitor, news, places, and industry evidence are gathered from external research providers. Every cited source carries a title, provider, confidence, and research date. What you tell us (idea, customer, location, budget) is treated as user input — never conflated with verified external evidence.

AI reasoning

Intent synthesizes each section by combining the gathered evidence with your business context and industry benchmarks. Every conclusion is labeled: ✅ Verified Evidence (named source), 🟡 AI Inference (synthesized from evidence), or ⚪ User Input (what you told us). AI inference is never presented as fact.

Confidence calculation

Research confidence is derived from how much well-evidenced data backs the report — the breadth and quality of cited sources across the eight scored factors. Higher verified-evidence coverage and stronger source confidence raise the overall confidence level (High / Moderate / Limited). Low confidence triggers an explicit "validate with real customers" callout.

Limitations

  • AI synthesis — not a substitute for professional financial, legal, or regulatory advice.
  • Market data carries a freshness lag; verify any time-sensitive figure before acting.
  • Financials are benchmarked AI estimates, not audited statements.
  • Customer willingness to pay, exact competitor pricing, and jurisdiction-specific regulation remain unknowns until you validate them.

Assumptions

Every report assumes your inputs (idea, customer, location, business type, budget) are accurate; that the market operates broadly like industry benchmarks; and that competitor and pricing signals from research are representative. Where an assumption materially affects a conclusion, it is surfaced in that section — and in the Report Provenance block of your report.
